YOUR BRANTFORD PEDIATRIC DENTIST BLOG: An Apple a Day... Is There Truth to It?
Now you’ll have to admit that your mom was right when she said: An apple a day keeps the doctor away. According to a new study found by Brantford Pediatric Dentist Peachtree Kids Dental from the Appalachian State University’s professor David Nieman.
Professor Nieman arrived at this conclusion by conducting a study with two groups of athletes in order to gauge their immune systems. Both groups were placed under extreme exercise stress during a period of 15 days. In group A where individuals consumed a quercetin substance only 5% from all individuals stated they experienced respiratory illnesses. In group B where individuals took instead a placebo, about 45% of them experienced illnesses after their exercise stress. These results were reached although their immune systems didn’t show changes. The only significant changes noticed was in group A where they had a better performance given the fact that they became more responsive by using quercetin.
Our group of Brantford Pediatric Dentists say that you can find abundant quercetin substance in red apples. It looks as if this quercetin substance increases your immune system’s responsiveness against pathogens and germs in the mouth. So keep that beautiful smile by eating a lot of delicious red apples, while also making your mom happy!
